Remediation of chemical landfills in Neratovice and Chabarovice

Basic experiences are described for 2 old chemical landfills remediated during last few years. In both cases the method of encapsulation was used, where main role was devoted to the underground bentonite-cement slurry wall. In the case of Neratovice, the surface of the remediated old landfill was used as the bottom sealing layer of the new chemical landfill fulfilling all new demands. Hilly terrain of the Chabarovice landfill is the main problem with slope stability. Slope instability in one part affected constructed vertical sealing wall and therefore proposed steps to solve this problem are described in more details.
