Stability of the Krusne hory hillsides affected by coal mining activities at the foothills

The extension of brown-coal mining activities in the form of large open-pit mines extending to the crystalline massif of the Krusne Hory mountains has caused about numerous problems with solving the stability of the slopes of the mining pits and hillsides in the close fore field. The seriousness of these problems has called for detailed investigations, involving the large open-pit coal mines themselves, a number of geo-technical analyses, as well as application of various monitoring methods. Thanks to them, it was possible to prevent an extensive stability breakdown with large economic repercussions.
