INPUT-OUTPUT METHODS IN ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION ANALYSIS

Using the input-output relationships, we show how to assign emissions from an industry to a commodity. The model may be used to illustrate the sensitivity of the output of the system to the inputs. It may help to understand more about the nature and the links between industries and environment. It points out the problem that viewing pollution in terms of industries is only the part of a larger view. A different interpretation about what is necessary to control pollution may come from analyzing emissions in terms of commodities.
