Proteases in our body have very important functions such as production of neuropeptides, clotting of blood, degradation of waste protein and etc. The activities are strictly regulated by various kinds of mechanism and protese inhibitors are well known as the most useful tools for regulation of the activities. Proteases are largely classified as serine protase, cystein protease, metallic protease and aspartic protease. In those proteases, the inhibitors for the former three kinds of protease are laready reported, however, an inhibitor for aspartic protease has not been reported yet. On the other hadn, the protease of AIDS virus is classified as aspartic protease. Therefore, if the inhibitor is found to be existed in our body, a new therapy for AIDS disease will be expected to be established.
