COAL GASIFICATION CHARACTERISTICS IN A 3 TON/DAY BENCH SCALE GASIFIER

As a small scale test facility to obtain cictual experience on coal gasification as well as to determine the gasification yield/quality on imported coals to Korea, a 3 ton-coal/day capacity gasifier was built in 1995. The gasifier was test -opera ted more than ten times till now and core operation parameters were identified. Coal feeding rales and amounts of reacting gases, i.e., steam, oxygen, transport nitrogen, were varied to determine their effects on gasification temperature and product gas compositions. Their effects were also compared with simulation results.
