A sufficient time for wet curing is necessary to achieve strength development and high durability ofground granulated blast furnace slag concrete. However, wet curing is sometimes difficult afterdemolding due to restrictions of space and cost. Accordingly, we self-cured concrete from the inside byreplacing normal fine aggregate with porous fine aggregate which retained water, and we developedground granulated blast furnace slag concrete which has superior strength development and durabilitywithout curing from the outside. Then we conducted various tests for mix proportions of self-curing blast furnace slag concrete. Theseexperimental results showed that the mix proportion satisfied the strength development and durabilityby replacing self-curing material in the proper ratio. Also, by manufacturing a full-scale concrete slabmember in this mix proportion at an actual factory, we confirmed that it was feasible to apply selfcuringblast furnace slag concrete to precast prestressed concrete members. In this way, our conclusion was that self-curing material was effective for simplification of a methodfor curing blast furnace slag concrete.
