This paper presents the design and construction of a self-integrating Rogowski coil with magnetic core for (4/10) μs and (8/20) μs lightning impulse current measurement. In order to improve the measurement accuracy, frequency spectrum of lightning current wave was analyzed. By optimizing the winding structure and parameters designing, the bandwidth of the Rogowski coil can be broadened and the response time is shortened. Compared with standard impulse current shunt, the peak value deviation under (4/10) μs and (8/20)μs impulse current waveforms are less than 0.5% and the time parameter error is less than 1%. It is very suitable for on-site calibration for current transducers with high measurement accuracy.
