Grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS) is an important form of energy storage application. It generally adopts PQ control to provide power support. However, existing control methods cannot achieve dynamic power allocation resulting in a slow transient response speed. To address this problem, this paper presents a distributed control scheme for the actual grid-connected BESSs. Based on the transient analysis, two regulation parts are designed separately to realize the transient fast response and the steady-state proportional power allocation. Compared with the traditional control, the proposed control has a remarkable advantage in improving the transient response speed. Several simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method in a cluster grid-connected BESSs.
