Analysis of a Current-Fed Parallel Resonant Inverter for Induction Heating Applications

this research interested in the design, simulation, and studying the characteristics of a general-purpose power supply suitable to feed different induction coils for different heating processes. It is composed of a 3-phase, fully controlled, Full wave rectifier (FCFWR), followed by a self-tuned single-phase inverter. It is intended to be used for different power ratings and output voltages of different magnitudes and frequencies. Hence, it is suitable for melting, surface hardening, and for through heating applications for linear and nonlinear types of ingot materials. The external characteristics, the input currents harmonic content, and the THD factor, are determined, for each triggering angle and load current. Different examples of terminal voltages and frequencies are tested to be matched with the designed power supply. The obtained results determine the ranges of the power, terminal voltage and frequencies that can be supplied from the proposed power supply. MATLAB 7.11.O (R2010b) computer package used in this work.
