1.High resolution plume dispersion of inert PM_(2.5) emissions from 6 major point sources in the SF Bay Area was modeled using CALPUFF and SCICHEM w/ consistent meteorological conditions 2.On the annual average basis, CALPUFF and SCICHEM produced qualitatively similar results but with important quantitative differences 2.1SCICHEM tends to predict greater surface concentrations in the principal plume direction 2.2Wider dispersion by CALPUFF near sources 2.3In some cases plume trajectories by the two models diverge in downwind areas 2.4Past studies have shown that the two models can produce substantially different results; however, to determine which model better represents point source plume dispersion in this study requires further investigation 3.Dry and wet deposition didn't make significant differences in our CALPUFF simulations 4.At high sampling grid resolution, SCICHEM's adaptive grid approach achieved better computational efficiency than CALPUFF.
