Re-Balancing Global Climate Change Strategies

In almost every respect, restricting greenhouse gases is completely different from the air pollutant control programs of the USA and other individual countries. Unlike control of particulates or CO, for example, control of CO2 would require reductions among virtually all countries - and simultaneously. It doesn't take science denial or alternative energy skepticism to suggest that current reliance on greenhouse gas mitigation may not succeed in averting climate change .Therefore, adaptation measures should be considered at least as prominently as mitigation. The history of greenhouse gas emissions since the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement provides evidence for questioning the current emphasis on alternative energy adoption and reduced carbon footprints as the solutions to global climate change. This paper traces the pattern of greenhouse gas emissions, presents examples of adaptation measures and compares the current balance between mitigation and adaptation in several climate change plans.
