The engineered turf final cover provided an effective engineering solution to overcome environmental, technical, and social challenges associated with the closure of the sludge ponds, including accelerated project schedule, odor control, leachate reduction, tolerance of differential settlement, reduced post-closure maintenance burden, and improved community relations.
