With the rapid penetration of the renewables in power grids, battery energy storage systems (BESS) is recognized as an outstanding power supply participating in automatic generation control (AGC). The optimal power sharing strategies (PSS) for BESS cluster at this stage focus on maximizing either the system stability or BESS profit. Therefore, to balance the requirement of system stability and BESS profit, we propose a practical chance-constrained power sharing strategy (CC-PSS). In particular, a range constraint replaces the strict power balancing in AGC, and a chance constrained programming is further involved to avoid the future unacceptable frequency deviations. At last, the promising results demonstrate that with the application of our proposed PSS, BESS cluster is with high operating economy and the system frequency is with strong stability.
