The energy generated by the vibration and noise from the body of a moving ship will be partially transmitted to the sea-bed, and continue to be transmitted in the manner of seismic waves. This cycle of induction persists as the ship continues moving. This is different from the sources of natural waves or artificially stimulated seismic waves, which usually emit an enormous amount of energy within a very short period. A ship however, continuously release energy to cause more seismic waves as it moves along. As a result, most of the regular processing methods in seismology are no longer feasible for processing seismic waves induced by ships. Therefore, new processing methods for this particular type of seismic wave need to be discovered and carefully explored, starting with an effective and thorough understanding of the characteristics of seismic waves. In this report, we measure three-component seismic waves induced by ships, which are successfully analyzed and processed based on the study of the processing methods of acoustic and others continuous signals generated by moving ships. This proves that the use of the multi-component processing method is effective.
