A Novel Robust ADRCControl Strategy of a PMSG Based Wind Energy Conversion System

In this paper, we present the modeling and control of a wind energy conversion system using the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). Two schemes of control are used: Conventional proportional integral (PI) and a recent control strategy called Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC). We have used a dynamic simulation with a random profile of wind speed in order to get closer to reality. The purpose of the PMSG control is to regulate the electromagnetic torque and the stator current of the PMSG in order to insure the extraction of the maximum power of the wind thanks to the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method and to maintain the direct current at zero in order to ensure unity power factor. The ADRC and PI controllers are compared and investigated in terms of references tracking and robustness. Analysis and simulation of our system is realized with MATLAB/Simulink software.
