Residual current protection devices are now the basis for protection against electric shock in the case of an emergency condition. According to the PN-HD 60364-6 standard, the parameters that are subject to checking for new installations or periodic tests include: trip current, short circuit loop impedance and tactile voltage generated on conductive foreign parts. During supplying circuits from frequency converters or inverters, higher harmonics or DC currents occur in the receiver circuitry. Therefore, there may be differences in the actual trip current or impedance of the fault loop due to the higher frequencies occurring. The article describes the proposed methods for assessing the parameters of residual current circuit breakers taking into account the occurrence of higher harmonics and digital components.
