The ever increasing consumption of energy cost of energy production, diminishing fossil fuels and the concerns over the global environment have drawn interest of researchers in alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, fuel cell etc.. Recent developments in power electronics and energy storage technologies have provided new opportunities for alternative energy sources. Penetration of Distribution Generation (DGs) based on these alternative resources are rapidly increasing all over the world as these can meet the ever increasing demand of power while complying with the environment related regulations. Fuel Cells (FC) and Photovoltaics (PV) are the most environmental friendly technologies for DGs. This paper presents an holistic survey of PV and (FC) based Distributed Generation System.
