Children's understanding of the graphs of pain frequency

The understanding of the pain frequency of patients can facilitate medical professional diagnosis, so self-management tools for pain have gained increasing attention. However, there have been just a limited number of tools for children who are not highly literate. In this study, the first of 10 children aged from 3 to 9 as objects, to clarify the extent of the children's understanding of graphic design elements. With 96 children aged from 4 to 9 as the research subjects, this study explores children's understanding of the graphs of pain frequency. The results are adopted for the development of the pain management tools for children.
