摘要

Phase shift in reflection and transmission coefficients is critical to understand the constitutive effective parameters of metamaterial. In this paper, we study the phase of S_(11) (reflection coefficients) and S_(21) (transmission coefficients) for a plane wave incident normally on a slab of metamaterial. This study can help to predict the resonant frequency band and whether the permittivity, ε_r, is negative or the permeability, μ_r, is negative.
