It is possible to detect the high temperature area of the earth surface as a hotspot by using middle infrared band data and far infrared band data provided by an artificial satellite. We propose a method to use artificial heat sources area such as steel works or cement factories, called the artificial hotspot, as GCP for accuracy improvement of the geometrical correction of the nighttime far infrared image by the AVHRR sensor aboard the NOAA series satellite. In this report, we investigated the result obtained by various kinds of simulation about using an artificial hotspot as GCP for a nighttime image obtained from AHI sensor, which has both middle infrared band and far infrared band, of Synchronous Meteorological Satellite Himawari-8.
