Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) remains over the world, one of the most devastating scourges that plagues the swine industry. Control of PRRS virus (PRRSV) includes a large array of tools as internal and extetnal biosecutity, setup of management and hygiene rules and also vaccination. Stabilization of the sow herd, in other words limitation of the virus circulation in the sows has a pivotal impottance in the epidemiology of the virus in the farm. It has been clearly demonstratedthat PRRSV virus circulation in the post-weaning phase was linked to PRRS related reproduction problems in sows and that even if the post-weaning phase was managed under continuous flow conditions, when sow herds were stable, no of minimal virus circulation was likely to occur up to 9-10 weeks of age.
