Considerations for preserving antibiotic use

There are three general categories for us to consider related to preserving the ability to use antibiotics to prevent, control, or treat infectious disease in swine. The first is consideration of any effects our current use may have on the ability totreat infections in the future due to antibiotic resistance. The second category includes forces of law due to legislation and regulation. Ihe third concerns access to certain market channels due to "retaliation", food retailer and quick service restaurant (QSR) initiated requirements. All of these categories will have an effect on which antibiotics we use fot what in the future.
