Do sows and gilts previously infected with PEDV respond to PEDV vaccination?

The objective of this study was to characterize the immune response of sows and gilts to (previously infected with PEDV) alternative PEDV vaccines and regimes prior to farrowing.Multiparous sows (n = 36) and gilts (n = 36) were randomly assigned to one of five vaccine treatments; 33 gilts and 31 sows actually completed the study (Table 1). Samples were collected and tested using the PEDV whole virus (WV) IgG ELISA, the WV IgA ELISA, and an FFN assay. The sows in this study were infected with PEDV via natural exposure December 2013 and the gilts were intentionally exposed at 13 weeks of age on August 28,h, 2014.
