Inorganic ceramic membrane has been one of the hottest research field both in environmental protection and materials, as it has so much advantages, such as, high-temperature-resistance, acid and alkali-resistance, adequate distribution of aperture, steady chemical property, high strength, large flux, long lifetime, anti-pollution, simple structure, small footprint, few corollary equipment, easy installation, no chemical additives, high separating efficiency, high degree of automation control and so on. Some application on environmental progress in the field of inorganic ceramic membrane technology applied in treatment of food industry wastewater, mechanical metallurgy wastewater and petrochemical wastewater was summarized in this paper, and the existent problems and the future research direction was discussed. Membrane separation (MS) technology is one of important measures in alleviating the shortage of resources and controlling environment pollution as it has high effective and energy-efficient, simple control operation future, and it has been getting widespread attention around the world. Membrane separation technology contains microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis based on the different membrane pore size, and organic membrane and inorganic membrane depending on the membrane material. The organic membrane has low-temperature-resistant and strength, narrow scope of pH value, low permeability, small footprint, and easy pollution and Difficult cleaning and regeneration. Compared with organic membrane, inorganic membrane is high-temperature-resistant, acid and alkali-resistance, adequate distribution of aperture, steady chemical property, high strength, large flux, long lifetime, anti-pollution, simple structure, small footprint, few corollary equipment, easy installation, no chemical additives, high separating efficiency, High degree of automation control. Therefore, the inorganic membrane has been applied in the field of Food industry, bio-chemical, environmental engineering, chemical industry, petro-chemical and Mechanical metallurgy.
