Most of the gene array-based expression studies of lung cancer have ignoredthe differences in clinical features, for example the Tumor-Node-Metastasis(TNM) stages of the cancer. In this study, we used a 35K Oligo gene array toidentify the differentially expressed genes associated with different TNM stagesin lung adenocarcinomas, a subtype with increasing incidence in recent years inChina. We identified 10 differentially expressed genes among 90 tumorsamples of lung adenocarcinoma at various TNM stages (Stage I, II, and IIIA),of which Zimp7, GINS2, and NAG-1 genes were first reported to be present ata high level in lung adenocarcinoma, and these three genes were confirmed byreal-time RT-PCR in a different set of samples. These 10 candidate genesassociated with different TNM stages in lung adenocarcinoma in the Chinesepopulation may offer new targets for the diagnosis, therapy, and prognosisprediction of lung adenocarcinoma.
