Due to the increasing demand for fish there has been an intensification of the aquaculture industry. Recirculation Systems (RAS) and Shallow Raceway Systems (SRS) enable higher production with lower water usage. However, although final effluent volumes are lower, the discharged wastewater has higher metabolite concentration, and must be managed to comply with environmental regulations.
