There are several goals that motivate multinational companies (MNCs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to go international. Among the many goals, market seeking goal, and resource seeking goals are prominent. Myanmar with its unexploited market and rich resources meets MNCs' goals. This paper enables prospective foreign investors in getting better picture of the business environment in Myanmar. Based on the secondary data, it is found that Myanmar gives priority to foreign investment such as resource-based heavy investment, resourcebased export-oriented value added projects, laborintensive export-oriented projects and manufacturing industries. However there are a lot of limitations along with very attractive unexploited market and rich resources of Myanmar. Major challenges such as administrative, infrastructure and policy-related and other barriers are found. For the forthcoming Asean Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, it is found that Myanmar government is undertaking serious efforts to improve the overall business environment in terms of improving hard and soft infrastructures, trade security and facilitations, it is expected that Myanmar will be ready to receive FDI along with the implementation of AEC in 2015.
