Study on the Influence of the Gas Composition on Local Heat Transfer Efficiency in Oxy-Hydrogen Gas Cutting

In order to examine the influence of the gas composition onthe cutting performance of oxy-hydrogen cutting, spot heatingtest for oxy-hydrogen preheating mixed with the added gases:CO2 and AR in various mixture ratios are performed. Osawa’sIHCA was carried out for these test results, and the influence ofthe CO2 mixing ratios on the local heat transfer parameters isinvestigated. Based on the IHCA results, the effect of the addedgas and its mixture ratio on the piercing and cuttingperformance is discussed. As a result, the followings werefound:(1) The highest gas temperature is obtained for 100%H2, while that in the outer skirt part becomes lower(declines by about 15% at r = 0.01 m) as the CO2mixture ratio increases up to 20%.
