Transducer field simulation methods can be roughly fallen into two categories: frequency-domain models and time-domain models. Closed form analytical expressions for the impulse response of a rectangular array element have been given by San Emeterio and Ullate and these have been used as our "gold standard". However, attenuation, the frequency-dependent factor, was not incorporated in both frequency-domain models and time-domain models. The main purpose of this paper is to study the influence of attenuation on the field of linear arrays.
