This paper makes full use of the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm to invert the ocean acoustic parameters in shallow water. Compared with typical global optimization schemes such as simulated annealing (SA) and genetic algorithms (GA) using simulated data, DE algorithm need the least run time and get the best objective function values. The experimental data are explosions acquired on a vertical line array during the ASIAEX 2001 (Asia Experiments) conducted in the ECS (East China Sea).
