In this paper, an agent model for the synchronization of multimedia presentations is addressed. It is based on the "events-conditions-actions" mechanism. With this approach, the display of each single multimedia object is modeled as an agent, and the synchronization of several multimedia agents can be coordinated by another agent (coordinator). This coordinator integrates the individual multimedia agents in three dimensions, say, content compositions, temporal compositions, and spatial compositions. Because this agent model controls multimedia display by message passing, the encapsulations of multimedia objects (multimedia agent) can be well maintained. Thus, we do not need to rewrite the individual multimedia agents when we use a coordinator agent to synchronize them for displays. All the controls to a multimedia agent are through its interface.
