Adaptive Snapshot Routing Strategy for Software Defined Multi-domain Satellite Networks

Nowadays, multi-domain large-scale satellite laser networking has become an inevitable trend in satellite communications area. Software defined network (SDN) is introduced to the satellite networks to reduce the control complexity of satellite nodes and achieve flexible management of a large number of satellites. However, the routing problems in the dynamic satellite topology, which is caused by the nature of motion of satellite nodes, is not well studied yet. In this paper, we propose an adaptive snapshot routing strategy (ASRS), to optimize snapshot routing performance while reducing the occupation of precious on-board storage resources by snapshot storage. Finally, we built a satellite network simulator platform based on ONOS and conducted simulation to compare the performance of ASRS and a classic snapshot routing strategy (CSRS). The results showed that ASRS has obvious advantages in terms of on-board storage resource occupation and quality of service.
