If the radiation pattern of an antenna has a very wide beam in one dimension and a very narrow beam in another, we call it a fan beam antenna. This kind of antenna has been widely used in millimeter wave foreigner objects debris (FOD) radar, vessel traffic service (VTS) radar, Marine navigation radar, long-range and ultra-long-range warning radar and other radar systems. In addition, in order to make full use of the signal energy in the alert search radar and other special applications, we also hope that the antenna pattern can be distributed according to the requirements of specific functions, which is called the shaped beam. The most common shape forming beam is the cosecant square pattern, that is, the radiation pattern satisfies the cosecant square function with the change of angle (F(θ)=csc2(θ)). In this paper, the research results of the author's team on fan-shaped beam and shaped beam antenna in recent years are introduced, such as fan-beam bias fed reflector antenna for W-band FOD radar, fan-beam box antenna for linear polarization and circular polarization, and a variety of shaped beam antennas. It is hoped that these methods and ideas of antenna design can provide reference for engineers.
