In this paper, a wideband butterfly printed dipole antenna is designed based on double layer artificial magnetic conductor for low profile. The wide gradual change structure of the dipole can effectively broaden the working bandwidth. A metal reflector is placed under the antenna to realize the directional radiation pattern of the antenna, which can also increase the front-end ratio of the radiation pattern. On this basis, in order to reduce the overall height of the antenna and achieve miniaturization, a low profile printed dipole antenna is realized using the in-phase reflection characteristics of the artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) structure. The simulated results show good performances of the antenna with double layer AMC conductor.
