In April of 2016, Western Botanical Services, Inc. (WBS) was brought under contract with the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to fulfill a wide range of tasks for the Landscape Architecture and Design Division related to erosion control andrevegetation. The Department recognized that internally they lacked the skill set to complete appropriate, realistic, cost effective, and successful erosion control and revegetation specifications across highly variable landscapes. Nevada is a large anddiverse state, and ecosystems include high desert, Mojave, Basin and Range, and the Sierra Nevada. Prior to this contract, they had relied on consultants to provide revegetation specifications on project by project basis, or patched together specifications internally to the best of their ability. This often resulted in specifications that could not be implemented or were inappropriate for the site.
