To avoid the ramp events of wind power and smooth its fast fluctuation, the synchronous and asynchronous control strategies to double battery energy storage system (dBESS) are proposed to allocate the charge and discharge times and optimize the parameters of the dBESS. Considering the discarded wind, the ramp events of the wind power are analyzed. The improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) is applied to optimize the life time and cost of the battery, as well as the penalty cost of the wind curtailment and deficiency. The simulation results validate the accuracy of the dynamic definition to the wind ramp events, the control effect of the asynchronous strategy, and economics of wind curtailment.
