REPLACING A HEADBOX ON AN EXISTING PAPER MACHINE - THE M2 EXPERIENCE

M2 Paper Machine was commissioned in 1956 as an MG lightweight bag and sack paper machine. It was installed with an open top headbox, and in 1969 it had a rectifier roll headbox replacement. After many years of service, it was time to retire this headbox and replace with a modern design. While this project appeared to be a moderate risk essential replacement project, it turned out to be a low risk profit project - resulting in significantly better machine runnability, significantly less breaks and other benefits that were not expected.
