This paper highlights the various process optimisation initiatives carried out in ADNOC Gas Processing Natural Gas Liquids fractionation facility to minimise Flaring and conserve Energy thereby reducing the emissions to the Environment. Capabilities of existing assets were exploited or optimally utilized to achieve superior Energy and flaring performance with significant reduction in Greenhouse gas emissions. Below are the list of various optimization initiatives that were completed. 1. Flare Minimization Initiatives 1.1?Optimization of Molecular sieve units. 1.2?Optimization of cover gas in Acid Gas Flare. 1.3?Optimization of purge gas in High Pressure Flare. 1.4?Swapping of purge media from fuel gas to Nitrogen in Low Pressure Flare. 2. Energy optimization initiatives 2.1?Maximization of Train throughput with Single refrigeration compressor. 2.2?Optimization of power in Boil off Gas recovery systems. 2.3?Optimization of steam in ADIP solvent Regeneration systems. 2.4?Optimization of power in LPG Feed Systems. Post implementation of these initiatives, flaring was reduced by 28% and Energy savings realised was upto 6%. These initiatives were pursued and accomplished by in-house team with zero capital reducing CO2 emissions by 131,000 tons/annum with an impressive cost savings of $8.3 million per annum. The benefits are sustainable throughout the life cycle of the project.
