Modeling, Simulation Validation of TEM Cell for Short Pulse Sensor Verification

The Transverse Electro-Magnetic (TEM) cell is popular among EMI/EMC community ever since its invention. Its versatility in radiated susceptibility tests as well as in measuring radiated emissions from a product.In this paper, open TEM cell was modeled using CST and analyzed it for pulsed signals viz. Square and Double Exponential type. RS105, EMP pulse characteristics were also studied and analyzed using modeled TEM cell. Practical measurements were carried out using similar available TEM cell in our laboratory and results concurrence with simulated results for square type pulse. Modeled TEM cell will be used for pulsed E-filed sensors verification and also for RS105 testing of smaller objects based on uniform field results obtained in simulation using double exponential pulse excitation.
