摘要

In this paper, the design and development of a broad-band double ridge horn antenna (DRHA) have been presented. From the throat to the aperture, the ridge is tapered for smooth impedance matching between the waveguide section and the free-space. A linear taper superimposed on an exponential taper has been conceived in the flared horn section. The additional linear taper reduces the aperture phase error and yields improved patterns at higher frequencies. Design optimizations have been carried out using finite element based high frequency structure simulator (HFSS). A prototype has been fabricated using aluminum and experimentally validated. Relevant simulation and experimental results are also presented.
