Chromasonics has been developed from a generic technology called Chromaticity. Through the use of chromaticity information in complex acoustic signals is readily extracted. This technology, called Chromasonics, is being applied in the detection of defects in road and rail transport systems at normal operating speeds using wheel/road and wheel/rail acoustics to detect defects in tyres and rail track. In addition Chromasonics is successfully being applied to crack detection in metallic objects. This technological advancement is significant as it is none invasive, uses low cost components and requires little computing power.
