Experiments to Compare Different Triggers of Thermal-Runaway

One of the main safety concerns in xEVs is the thermal runaway of the Li-Ion batteries. It can be triggered by (local) overheating. In this presentation we will show, how different triggers affect the thermal runaway reaction of large automotive Li-Ion cells. We will compare the temperatures and the gas-emission rate of thermal runaway reactions caused by hot-spots and by uniform heating.
