This work presents a control scheme for the direct torque control (DTC) of an induction machine driven by a dual inverter. Since this drive topology provides a three level phase to neutral voltage output, the DTC strategy can be enhanced by the new voltage vectors available. A switching loss reduction method based on the minimum switch state transition is presented. This method is possible due to several switching combinations that results in the same output voltage vector on the machine terminals. Simulation studies have been carried out for the proposed scheme and results are analyzed.
