Since high-temperature superconductors were discovered, the potential of applications of Superconducting Fault Current Limiters (LCCS) in Power Systems has been increasing. However, it's necessary to understand how these devices will perform and impact the network, in order to specify them correctly. This paper shows a proposal of computational model made using the free software Alternative Transient Program (ATP), which allows the simulation of LCCS in equivalent circuits of real power systems. The model considers the electrical and thermal phenomena that describes its behavior when a fault current occurs. Furthermore, the electrothermal analogy is applied to solve the coupling between these phenomena. The results were compared with real data, obtained by testing a prototype, and the computational simulations carried out by previous papers. The developed algorithm reached similar results to the references. It allows the usage of this model for simulating LCCS in electric power networks.
