摘要

High impedance fault (HIF)in distribution network remains un-detected due to very small magnitude of current flow. This paper presents detection and classification of HIF on radial distribution system using fuzzy inference system (FIS). The FIS is established with the help of fuzzy logic toolbox in MATLAB. The IEEE-15 bus radial distribution system is used to validate the proposed scheme. The proposed method uses three phase currents measured at the substation for the detection and classification of shunt fault. For fault detection and it's type determination., Mamdani-type fuzzy controller is used. The distribution system is simulated for both symmetrical (LLL)and unsymmetrical (LG., LL., LLG)faults with various fault parameters like., fault resistance., fault inception angle., and fault position. Moreover the scheme accurately detects and classifies the HIF. The results reveal the accurateness of the proposed scheme for the entire shunt faults including HIF.
