摘要

Once a veterinary resident has finished his or her training, employment can be daunting decision. When it comes to being a specialist who wants to continue to regularly see clinical cases there are two main avenues of employment in the USA - working in a private specialty practice or working in an academic institution. When one graduates from a residency the decision between pursuing employment in the private sector versus an academic institution can be a difficult, challenging decision. The goal ofthis talk it to discuss what it is like to be a veterinary specialist in both the private sector and also in an academic environment. We will explore the differences while using the specialty of neurology as an example.
