Cerebrospinal Fluid Review

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is an important ancillary diagnostic tool in the diagnosis of most neurological diseases. A normal CSF can rule-out many disease processes though it can still be normal in up to 10% of dogs with confirmed inflammatory disease1 and can detect inflammation despite normal MRI findings2. This presentation will discuss current understanding of normal physiology, important aspects of collecting and processing an adequate diagnostic sample, and issues in interpretation of results.
