摘要

The purpose of this study was to develop methods for estimating the depth of mires before an actual inventory of the peat resources is carried out. Geophysical low-altitude airborne measurements provide good physical information for investigating the depth variation of mire areas. Electromagnetic methods are based on the typically better electrical conductivity of peat layers than their surroundings. In practice it has been noted that using low frequency aeroelectromagnetic maps the maximum anomalies are usually placed near the deepest part of the mire, where the conductivity-thickness product of the layer is greatest. Based on the electrical conductivity of the peat, the deepest peat layers have been located in the southern and southeastern areas of Lake Teurajaervi in the Teuravuoma mire complex, where they have also been detected by drilling.
