The V-shaped ball valve is a kind of ball valve, and it has an excellent regulation performance.The main structure parameter of the v-shaped ball valve is the V-angle.Thus, effects of the V-angle on the flow coefficients and the internal flow properties of the V-shaped ball valve were investigated.The discussed V-angles are 30°, 45°, 60°, 75° and 90°.The opening of valve changes from 0-100%, where 0% represents the closed position 100% represents the full open position.The working fluid is water with the density of 1.0 × 103kg/m3.Numerical simulalion method was used for present study.The standard k-epsilon turbulence model is used for the prediction of turbulent flow.The simulation procedure is validated by comparing the prediction results with experimental data.It is found that the flow properties within the V-shaped ball valve vary with V-angle.There is also a great change of the flow coefficient curve, when the V-angle increases.The results also indicated that the flow coefficient becomes larger with cone angle.This study provides a theoretical basis for the design and optimization of the V-shaped ball valve.
