摘要

New particle formation (NPF) is considered as main source of the nucleation-mode aerosols and affects climate system. There are many studies on NPF observed in various areas, however, reports of NPF in mountain sites in eastern Asia are very limited. Mt. Fuji (35.36N, 138.73E, 3776m ASL) is the highest mountain in Japan, and the summit of Mt. Fuji is located in the free troposphere most of the time. Therefore, atmospheric observations at the summit of Mt. Fuji enable to study background atmospheric conditions and long-range transport of aerosols. In this study, the preferable conditions for NPF at the summit and the foot of Mt. Fuji are investigated based on results of observations and analyses of air mass origins in summer 2014.
